Play some April Blues...

April is here, spring has sprung, so must be time to get together again to play some cool blues and hang with some good people. I'm amazed at how well this jam is growing, and how good we're getting at playing together [aside from the occasional volume and noodling issues] even though every time is different. Last month we had another great turnout so let's keep the train rolling!

Same format as always: lead a song if you'd like or suggest one; take a solo or just play backup, or just listen and enjoy if you'd like. Feel free ahead of time to post songs for us to practice as well. Participate at whatever level you're comfortable with, this is about getting together to create community to enjoy this music we love and share it with others. The more we contribute the better the jam for all.

If you haven't attended yet some things to note are all instruments are welcome but the house doesn't provide (except vocals mic) so you have to bring your own, but acoustic players can use the house mic if they want to solo. Also as this is a community jam all levels are welcome so it won't be as tight as some open mic jams are, the 'performance' aspect is less important than including everybody. We want to keep this balance, there are plenty of good open mic nights around town. That said, we've got a great core group of musicians that come out, and we routinely have newcomers show up that are wonderful people and great musicians as well... If you think you're not so great don't be intimidated,  I've seen a lot of people really improve by playing with others. So hope to see you there!

Thanks! That was me. I just got it back. (I've had it for 30 years so it has some sentimental value) Had a great time at the jam, too!

Good time was had by all...at least I had a good time. Everyone toned down a bit and let the lighter stuff show through. Just that one guy who put the finger in the dike and didn't let the music flow...oh, that was me. Gotta work on my llistening skills as well as scales.

It's all good and I think that was a pretty good jam once we found our stride & patience. Listening skills are good for everyone to work on - ME included. This many people and it seams to be more about NOT playing than actually playing. Still good fun and beats playing solo at home, huh?

Lot of pros who just got to play, hot licks just for kicks. It was nice to bounce a little back-up rhythm with such great musicians. Real easy group to join in on, add to the music high and grin a lot! Thanks guys!

Show up late/leave early... not usually my style, but I had a really good jam. It was good to see and play with everyone. Some tastey licks laid down by everyone, I got to lead a couple good ones and the rhythm section was great - BOTH bass players and Charles just keeps getting better & better. Hats off to all. Hope to do it again next month.

Saw Robbie Laws last night. Killer, as always. I hope to be able to make it, I'll probably be late, so save my regular spot. If anyone found my Sony power cable for my video camera, please bring it. I'll check with Shaker as well.

great! I use an M-Audio midi controller and run it through an iPad with the B3 and Leslie model in Garageband. the output goes straight into a Mackie powered speaker. the Hammond sound out of GB is incredible!

Hey this sounds like a great meet-up. I can bring a keyboard, if there's room?

Definitely room; sure thing. Can't plug a lot into the house system though so best to bring your own amp if needed. Looking forward to it!

    Schedule Update:
Yes, its true S&V has changed their hours, they now open at 2:00. I've always tried to get there by 1:00-1:30 to start setting up the mics etc. I think we're going to have to experiment a bit here to see how it all works. I don't want to change the time this month so be aware that the more people show at 2:00 the more milling around there'll be while we set up; for those that trickle in later obviously less so. So heads up to that everybody, and see y'all Saturday....
