West Side Acoustic Jam

Good news everyone.

The acoustic jam last Saturday was enough of a success that we're going to do it again.

Thanks to everyone who showed up. Let's have more fun next month!

Thanks Chuck for organizing, it is a great way to have fun with the great talent that attended. Looking forward to the next one. Also thanks to zBone for being the sergeant that we all need to keep things tight and balanced.

Thanks Jim. I agree about Zzak. He makes a great task master and keeps us all in line. Thanks Zack!

I really wanted to attend this, but I just haven't been feeling to well the last couple of days and I didn't want to risk giving a bunch of people the flu. Sounds like everyone had a grand time though.

I had a good time, arrived late and left early - but a good time none the less; plus I was home in time for dinner. It was good to get out of the house and have some fun and not have drive time eat up so much of the day. Good to see everybody (even Larry), very relaxed, easy going and fun group. I wasn't anti any of the tunes I didn't play. They were all minors and I didn't want to think too hard or retune my resonator that was tuned in open tuning. I'm gonna check out that place on a Tuesday night once the kids' soccer season is over. Anyone done that yet? Oh, I liked the variety of instruments at the jam as well and the great players of them all.

A wonderful way to spend an afternoon. I love the acoustic level. It might be a good idea to have one mic moved to each person soloing. Lots of talent was there.

OK, I emailed this to a few of you already, but I just thought it was a sa-weeet deal that I can't stop spreading the word. If I used FB like a normal human, I could just probably put it on there. I got a Lowell Fulson "CD" off iTunes that has 113 songs on it for $7.99! Not sure if you're into the early West Coast Blues or even do the iTunes or not, but here's the same thing on amazon, but for a lot more dinero.

http://www.amazon.com/1946-1953-Classic-Cuts-Lowell-Fulson/dp/B0002I9IKI I like finding a good deal & like it when people share it with me.

I noticed that we have some new people signing up for this jam. I should warn you ahead of time that this is not a Blues only jam. The invitation went out to both this group and the Portland Casual Jam for Musicians and Singers Meetup group. We play all genres, not just Blues. If you want to lead a song, be prepared to teach it to the group, and please keep it simple. Train wrecks aren't pretty.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
