Fanfic Book Club

  • Nov 15, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • Josh's Place

Having a bit of a book club type meetup, to discuss some fics and just have arguments that go nowhere, so a good time to be had for sure. We'll be hosting this at Josh's new place so it will double as a housewarming for him in a sense. Now feel free to bring any snacks or such as they would be greatly appreciated, but are not necessary. It is not required but highly encouraged that you read most if not all of the stories if you plan on attending. If you have any suggestions for stories for future meetups just shoot me an email at [masked]. Any input at all on the matter be much appreciated.

Selections:

The Arbitrage Of Moments (12,168 words)

A simple tale of a thief who steals a complex item. View the trials and tribulations of Tick-Tock as he discovers what justice really means.

More Than You Know (8,868 words)

A story of memories and how we deal with them, and how one feels remorse over them, primarily featuring Celestia and her most faithful student, Twilight Sparkle. This story was the Third Place Finisher in Equestria Daily's 2013 Nightmare Night Contest which is somewhat of an accomplishment, no other story can make that claim.

Big Horseshoes (6,942 words)

A cute slice of life story about Thunderlane and his kid brother Rumble, a heartwarming take on what it means to be idolized and what devotion really means. A surprising amount of emotional depth for such a short story. If you weren't a fan of Rumble and his big brother before reading this, it may just change your mind. If you were a fan of them then this story will pull at your heartstrings.

For Every Answered Prayer (12,614 words)

An on the nose story about an on the nose kind of pony. Rainbow Dash is presented with some events that bring about deep revelations, and evoke some feelings from all involved. A bit of a cliche, but done with enough nuance that you don't mind it. Slightly predictible given the subject matter, but even if you know where it's going, who says you can't enjoy the ride?

Wish I could make it. :( If this becomes a regular thing, I might come next time, though.

If anybody is coming from Beaverton a lift afterwards to Beaverton Transit Center would be gratefully appreciated. I can get home via bus/MAX if that doesn't work, although a ride would be easier/faster.
