EE Good Practices & Techniques, Part II

Last month's meetup went well and there was a lot of discussion about the various tips, tricks and techniques presented. So we're doing it again... only this time around we're going to focus on just a few topics and everyone will chime in (instead of me presenting).

So here's your homework... let me know what you want to learn most about (get as specific about), whether it's an add-on, setting up EE, templating, performance, you name it. If you're particularly strong at something specific or love some aspect of developing with EE, chime in too! Then a different person will give some info on each topic (whatever we have time for; hopefully 2-3) and we'll discuss, ask questions, etc. Sound good? Great!

Great meetup everyone! This definitely gave me a lot of things to think about for some current and upcoming projects. It's really helpful to get different perspectives on a problem.

With both member management and e-commerce being dominant topics at tonights meeting, this article from FortySeven Design seems apt.

Backing up / restoring sites and migrating sites to new servers would be very helpful.

I'm always curious about how people handle pagination and 404's happening at the same time. For example when you stack your template to get the url to be /blog/post-name but want /blog/awtqawtfgsd to return a 404 but /blog/P10 to return the second page, it's something that I feel I've always mucked with but haven't found a surefire, perfect way to implement it.

    The list looks good!

    Hey Everyone!

Kristen and I have brainstormed a bit on talking points for Wednesday. Here are some ideas surrounding the "best practices" topic:

    - member management
    - ecommerce
    - organization & process (namespaces, 404s, planning, naming conventions, etc.)
    - backup processes

Would love to get others' input as well. And I'd love a couple of people who feel they've dealt with these or other talking points enough to share for 10 minutes or so.
