June 14 - Gelli Plate Summer Fun Collage!

REMEMBER, this month we will be meeting the 2nd Saturday on June 14th.  Cat Monroy has some new techniques to explore using a gelli plate printing pad.  Here is her supply list:

Let's welcome in summer! For the next meeting, please bring all your standard mixed media supplies (brushes, gesso, gel medium, etc.) that make you happy and creative along with the following supplies if you have all or some of them:
-one or two rubber stamps that depict summer-like designs and one ink pad (a favorite color), archival or permanent-stencil or two-washi tape-3 favorite acrylic paint colors (more if you like, but not necessary). If you have Golden transparent paint, bring a color or two. If not, there will be some there.-spray ink, like Dylusions-pretty papers to collage with-micron or pitt pen, black for sure, permanent ink (our members love to help newbies and share supplies, so don't stress over not having everything!).  However, this is a hands on workshop.

We will be creating a summer collage with a few fun twists. A mixed media surface will be supplied for you. We will be learning how to use a Gelli plate, creating some texture for your collages. Be prepared for fun and surprises! If in doubt about what to bring, just think summer! Can a couple people bring a heat gun for drying projects?

We welcome and love to have new members as well as our seasoned troupe!  Drop-in fee is $5.00 and membership is $36.00 prorated from September.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!  Our July meeting will also be the second Saturday on July 12th due to the holiday weekend.  Please come!  More details later...

This was a fun class. It got me inspired to do something with my Gelli print stash! I enjoyed seeing everyone and meeting a couple newcomers. Looking forward to next month :)

Love, love, loved this class. Cat is such a great instructor. I work most Saturday mornings but will make it when I can. Thank you, JoAnn, for telling me about this great group. And, the magnificent Mt. Tabor Presbyterian Church and all those stunning stained glass windows. What an inspiring way to start the day!

Cat, i can bring a gelli plate. Not sure i understand the "transparent paint" though. Can u explain?

Great question and not the best description on my part! Golden Fluid Acrylic paints work very well on the gelli plate because of the layering effect one can achieve. The paint's translucent quality allows for this. Thanks for catching my loose description.

Simply darling invitations Sherri and beau. Congrats to you all.

P.S. Take a look at the cards I was making today. Nice thing about a small gathering, it is a small enough number to hand make the cards (acrylic medium, pigment inks, paper edge punch from Martha Stewart)!

Sherri - I am SO happy for you both! Best wishes for your wedding day and all that follows! We will celebrate with you in spirit!

I'm so sorry to miss out since this project day sounds like so much fun and I've been very interested in the Gelli plates. However, in light of Monday's important legal decision, my wife and I are going to be having a small, legal wedding (as opposed to the "merely ceremonial" wedding we had over 3.5 years ago) on June 14th in our backyard.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
