Now that we are one year old, we need to look to the future to find a way to keep our group dynamic. During the first year we have relied on a three-person leadership team to handle scheduling, finances and communication, but if we are to continue to grow and maintain energy, we need to define leadership roles, and clarify the vision for the purpose of the guild. To that end, we are asking for volunteers for the following positions:
Group Coordinator - This position will be responsible for maintaining the vision and direction of the group, communicating with other local arts groups and establishing cooperative relationships with those groups. This person will also be responsible for delegating tasks to committees for fund-raising and any other special events the group would like to have.
Membership Coordinator - This position will be responsible for keeping track of memberships and notifying members when it is time to renew. This position will work with the Treasurer, and back up that position at meetings to check in members and make sure they have paid either the yearly dues, or the single session fee.
Program Coordinator - This position will be responsible for working with members who volunteer to facilitate meetings, gathering ideas for meeting themes, and posting meeting topics on Meetup or whichever site the group chooses to use to communicate.
It will be important to create a clear description of the upcoming meeting, including what supplies will be furnished by the facilitator and what members need to bring.
Treasurer - This position will be responsible for collecting dues, either yearly or for individual meetings. It will be important to work with the Membership Coordinator to make sure dues are collected in a timely manner; the Treasurer and Membership Coordinator should be at the meetings a bit early, so they can check people in as they arrive and collect payments as needed. The Treasurer will become the primary signer on the guild bank account, and will be responsible for paying the room rental and any other fees the guild acquires.
Secretary - We are fortunate to have Alesia Zorn continuing to fill the role of secretary, Thank you, Alesia.
The current leadership team plans to make the transition as easy as possible by sharing the tools we have created and spending time with those who volunteer to help them as the start their new roles.
We want to thank you in advance for stepping up to keep the group going.
We will announce the topic of our September meeting, which will be held on September 10th due to the Labor Day weekend.
Please Note: We will shortly be asking all of you to participate in a short survey, which will help to set the future direction of the group. While we know that you are all busy, we want to make it clear how important it is that we get a response from as many of you as possible. Make your voice heard, so you will have a guild that meets as many of your needs as possible.
