Hindemith's virtuoso music for the full orchestra contrasts with Schumann's first orchestral writing, the "Spring" Symphony. The evening concludes with the legendary André Watts performing the Emperor of piano concertos.
Christoph König, conductor
• André Watts, piano

Hindemith: Concerto for Orchestra
Schumann: Symphony No. 1, "Spring"
• Beethoven: Piano Concerto No. 5, "Emperor"

Let's meet in the Broadway lobby near the Will Call table at 7:00. The concert starts at 7:30. (Please note that I will wait in the Broadway lobby until 7:00. In the past, I have waited until 7:15 or 7:20 for no-shows. 7:00 is the time to meet, please. Thank you.)
Philip Mandel, Organizer
I enjoyed Andre Watts' performance -- he played much better than the last time I heard him in Portland. Phil was easy to spot and it was nice meeting some new people.

Kyler and Kathleen, I'm so sorry we didn't get to meet. I placed myself inside the Broadway entrance near the Will Call table at 7:00, wearing my Meetup badge, as indicated in the Meetup announcement. I wish there were a spot inside the Schnitz that could be better defined, but after attending concerts there for 20+ years that's the best place I know to assemble. Would each of you do me a favor and email me privately (phmand "at" Gmail) and let me know what time you arrived and where you looked for me? Perhaps that will help. Thanks so much!

Same here, I didn't recognize/find anyone. This was my first Meetup. The concert was great.

How much are the tickets? Are we going to be able to sit together?

Tickets from $21. I believe students and seniors can get half-price tickets one hour before each performance at the Broadway entrance. Please call the Symphony ticket office to be sure.
