Welcome to the Portland Deaf Arts Collective (PDAC)
Are you a painter, dancer, photography, poet, musician, performer or any other type of Deaf/Hard of Hearing creative person? A new Portland, OR based Deaf Arts Collective is looking for both professional and aspiring artists who are interested in a gathering of like minds to interact, showcase and collaborate their work.
Aimed at being a radically inclusive event, we encourage all levels of hearing or artistic ability to join the group and attend events for a unique opportunity to meet people from very different world-views and perspectives.
PDAC events will be hosted atCymaSpace, an intimate non-profit performance space in NE Portland founded by a deaf musician.
Some typical events include:
DeafJams - A stage for ASL poetry and non-verbal/sign-based performances
Silent Shows - Live performances where light, vibration and headphones change up expectations for how music & other performance arts can be perceived.
HackJams - Explorations into technology to make music, sound & speech more accessible to Hard of Hearing performers & audiences
Socials - Arts themed ASL meet-up for artists to network & socialize ... and more!
Please sign up to this group if you would like to be notified of any of these upcoming events or contact Myles de Bastion (email@example.com) for a personal tour of the work he is doing at CymaSpace.
