Advanced to Expert.
Mostly Surf, Rockabilly, Roots Rock, and Folk, but also Classical, Blues, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Singer/Songwriter...anything but jazz, fusion, hip-hop, or rap.
The Hellecasters, because they showed how the guitarist can express himself through embellishment. Also because they play in ways I do not.
I like to share my love of instrumental surf guitar and straight-ahead rockabilly music. I also regularly accompany folksingers on bass guitar. I can read up and down the neck, improvise, flatpick, fingerpick, and hybrid-pick. I play in a band.
There were not enough attendees. I suggest a specific agenda for each meetup, such as a technique, a concept, or a principle, or a few of them. For an useful outcome it helps to have a plan. Although I am just a participant, I had a plan for this meetup, which was to identify and play songs similar to Andy's chosen "Blowin' in the Wind." So we played Guthrie's "Roll On Columbia Roll On" and Dylan's "Don't Think Twice It's Alright" and that was nice.
