Please join us for a fun-filled weekend of camping, hiking, and socializing on beautiful Orcas Island over Labor Day weekend. Meetup Portland Hiking has gone to this spot for the past two summers and they have been some of the most memorable Meetup hiking events. This is a very popular trip and RSVPing early is recommended.
What: Annual Orcas Island Camping trip over Labor Day weekend.
When: Friday September 4th through Monday September 7th.
Where: Upper campground, Moran State Park, Orcas Island, WA.
Why: Fun, campfire, hiking, bicycling, kayaking, swimming, eating, drinking and relaxing.
How: Carpooling from Portland to Anacortes Ferry to Orcas Island.
Who: 25 campers.
Carpoolers will need to leave the Portland area by 7:00 AM in order to catch the 2:40 PM ferry in Anacortes. Anacortes is an hour north of Seattle and the ferry ride is 90 minutes.
Ferry Departure: The optimal departure time is 2:40 pm from Anacortes. Plan to arrive by 12:30 or 1 pm to be sure you have space on the ferry. The next ferry to Orcas isn't until 5:35.
Current Ferry cost: $43.10 for car and driver plus 13.50 for each additional passenger, round trip. There is an potential for a price increase that has not been announced. Carpooling will reduce the cost per person of the ferry trip.

Carpooling information: We have reserved 5 campsites with a 2 car maximum per site included so carpooling will be necessary to prevent extra car costs of $10/car/night.
Campground information: We have five beautiful, adjacent campsites in the upper campground with a two tent maximum per site. We will discuss tent sharing at the planning meetings.
Costs: The cost per person is $24.00 and includes campsite fees for 3 nights, general camp supplies (e.g. garbage bags, paper towels), AND! Marci and David's Saturday night Spaghetti dinner with salad, garlic bread, dessert and wine around the campfire!
