The Mazama Trail is 7.5 miles, 2,120 feet, rated difficult.....but worth it!

From the Mazama website:
"The Mazama Trail is a hiking trail on the northwest side of Mount Hood which extends 3.7 miles (with an elevation gain of 2,120’) from its beginning to a junction with Timberline Trail (#600) near McNeil Point Shelter. Traveling through rhododendron groves, deep woods, heather meadows, and huckleberry patches, it provides grand views of Mount Hood and vistas to the north and west.

During the winter of 1985-86, a severe blowdown occurred, ravaging the existing Cathedral Ridge Trail on Mount Hood. Because of budget restraints, the Forest Service was unable to repair the trail and it was abandoned. In 1993, Mazamas began restoring the trail, and it was officially named Mazama Trail, and dedicated on September 10, 1994. The trail was finished in September 1997".

Well continue up the trail to McNeil Point Shelter, with views of the Muddy Fork, Bald Mt, Yocum Ridge.
Bring sun protection, and appropriate clothing as the weather can change quickly this high on the mountain.

I sent out an email to all the assistant organizers to help set up a second group.

No...... let's NOT meet at the same time. It leads to too much confusion at the meeting place and the trailhead. The trailhead isn't the easiest to reach and that will add more confusion, lost drivers and mixed groups. If someone wants to set up a second group,it should be at least an hour apart.

Let's just meet at the same time and place and then hike in a separate group. This way, we can comply with the limit of 12 people in a group and not have to worry about extra administrative overhead.

Richard, since you are an assistant leader, could you form another group for a different start time on Saturday, or maybe on Sunday? Thanks

In three words or less it was: fantastic, fantastic, fantastic! Ok, so I know that's really one word used three times, but you get the idea....
    •  Wow....what fun....great hike, great people. Thanks to all....hope to do it again soon.
    •  This was a great trip and I'm very, very glad that I signed up. The scenery was beautiful, the view from the top was amazing and I certainly got a nice workout. My legs are still feeling it. Everybody was nice and we all left happy and smiling. I loved sharing this experience with fellow hikers.
    •  We had a good group today. This is a good trail to hike, but it's really the people you hike with that make it great hike. Thanks everyone, this was a fun day!
    •  It was an amazing trail with breath taking views, and nice-friendly people to hike with! The leader did a great job facilitating the group! The majenta colored Indian Paint brush, and the other purple, yellow and orange flowers added to the Mount Hood backdrop to create a pristine alpine feel! All together it was incredable:)
