Angel's Rest Sunset Hike and Potluck

  • Gateway Transit Center Parking Garage

1200 NE 99th Avenue, Portland, OR (map)

    45.531281 -122.562340

  • Climb Angel's Rest and enjoy a potluck, then return in the dark by headlamp or flashlight.

    Distance: 5 miles total
    Gain: 1600 feet
Pace: 2.5 mph.  That's uphill with no breaks.

The days will be getting long enough to head out to the Gorge and watch the sun set form the summit of Angel's rest.

Bring a headlamp or flashlight as we will be hiking down in the dark.  This hike will be cancelled if the weather is too cloudy to see the sunset.

Bring something to share for dinner and we will picnic at the top!

What to wear: Evenings are cool!  Bring extra layers and a shell. It can be breezy at the top.

I'm sorry I can't make the new date. Enjoy!

I hate to do this, but the hoped-for Angel's Rest sunset has been replaced by clouds and rain. :(

A potluck on a cold, drizzly outcropping doesn't sound too appealing, so I am rescheduling this hike for next Wednesday and hoping for better weather then.

My Fav! I did Angels Rest 105 times in one year, easy close in w/ amazing views. I will bring ANGEL food cake , strawberries & whipping cream.

Nothing quite like a little advance planning to make everything right in the world. I'll be there! :)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
