February Monthly Meeting

So far February has had it all: sunshine, snow, rain, ice, fog, rock slides, and a bit farther afield, avalanches. I wonder what the 2nd half of February will bring? More snow on the mountain followed by cold sunny days? A guy can hope, right :-) Rain or shine, sounds like a good reason to get together for a well deserved post-work bite and beer to talk about everyone's favorite hobby- hiking!! As always, this is a great opportunity for new members to meet your fellow hikers, several of the hike leaders, and to get a brief overview of the group and how it all works. Hope to see you there!

**This just in: Jeff, Hike Leader extraordinaire, will be there to test your knowledge of the history of hiking in the Columbia River Gorge. Fabulous fun and prizes await those of you with a head full of history and trivia!!**

Thank you, Jeff!

Zach, you are an enthusiastic leader! Jeff, great gorge goulash! You know a lot! Fun to get a space blanket, ruined my last on a backpack! Hope to join you for an outing soon.

Great meeting, but those trivia questions were too hard! What were you thinking??

A great lanyard, a couple whistles and a thing of waterproof matches! A great haul and a fun evening! Who would have known that hiking the Perdition Trail in the 80's and 90's would eventually pay off! :)

I would like to be at the meeting to find out more about upcoming hikes. Some of these hikes are too long and time consuming for me. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction for shorter hikes with less difficulty. Thanks!

I'd be into shorter hikes as well. Makes three of us.

Rhonda, I do many shorter hikes April through October. My hikes are around 8 miles, but they are still medium in difficulty. If you are looking for shorter and easier hiking, have you ever checked out Friends of the Columbia Gorge? They do many knowledge hikes and are a great group of people.
