Discover the city's first urban wildlife refuge, and maybe Portland's coolest green space. Visited by great blue herons, bald eagles, egrets, beaver, deer and many other animals you don't see every day, Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge is right in the heart of the city, less than 10 minutes from downtown Portland.
We'll take a leisurely 3.5-mile walk through Oaks Bottom, shooting pictures of our feathered and furry friends, while maintaining an approximate 2.5-mile per-hour pace. We'll experience 100 feet of elevation gain along the way.
Dogs must be leashed and well-behaved.
Anticipated completion time is 12:15 p.m. Bring a snack, or we can plan lunch at a neighborhood restaurant (TBD).
