This was fun last year, I think the water may still be pretty cold but its suppose to be about 90* on Saturday.
We will climb Munra Point again, then to cool down doing the short wade up the Oneata Gorge.
The climb is about 1.5 miles with a gain of 1800 feet. Some scrambling and the view at the top is great. We will spend some time enjoying it then head back down to the cars.
Next up is the Oneata Gorge. We will cross the log jam and wade up the creek to as far as you can go. I think its about a 1/4 mile. THat should cool us off.
Distance not much about 5 miles tops.
Rated as difficult I think.
Just heard a great joke!!
There's this little kid with a stand, the sign says"Swift kick in the rear, $1.00" a man walks up and says "How's business?"
the kid says" Terrible!"
The man "why do you think?
'The Kid " I don't know?! Everyone I know needs one"
I should clarify more about this hike, Munra is a lost hike and pretty steep with some exposure. The Gorge has a log jam to cross over then we will be wading on rocks.
If you have issues with Heights, exposure or balance this may not be the hike for you!
More to add, Its Winter so we won't be wading and it probably won't be 90*. It could be snowy or Icy. So Dress accordingly, its my Winter Pilgramage up to Munra Point.
I'm allowing guests but make sure they are able to do the hike, its a steep climb to the top of Munra Point.
things to bring:
Changes of clothing, you will get wet wading the creek. at times the water is chest high, I hear. I swam through the deepest places last year but you can hug the rocks to get across.
No passes needed , pay drivers $5.01
I think we can be back by 4 P.M. on this one! LOL! Possibly because I have a dance to go to.
I usually like to go to Mall 205 after for food and drink.
