Let's get together for a group brew...

  • September 3, 2011 · 10:00 AM

I am fully aware of college football, but think of it as tailgating. My place and television are small, but if someone has a deck or backyard and is willing to host, I can bring my 10 gallon work in progress. I'll split the batch with someone who wants to learn to brew (5 gallons worth should cost less than $20, and by the end you will be an official all grain brewer). I recommended 10:00 AM because brew days usually start late, and as much as I like to pretend, it will probably take 4 hours.

I'm going to be doing a series of all grain group brews this month. I have various beer things that I have made recently to offer the club including off-kilter stuff like mead, cider, and braggot (look it up!) I used to do this in Cincinnati, OH with The Bloatarian Brewing Society. We always had a blast! I don't know if Portland is ready yet for the Group Brew.

I agree^ Maybe we could get together and any of us that have beer bottled/keg'd etc. to share could bring it along, sort of like a community share homebrew meet-up.

Rob started this group and hasn't been involved since. I don't know what happened there, but I am interested in expanding general brewing knowledge and love group brews. So lets make something happen!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
