Korean Food Cooking Class

It was usually done at someone's place. We've made kimchi, Korean dumplings (mandoo) + gimbap (rolls) together (one entree each night). It was a fun way to spend an evening and get to know people. It'd obviously have to be limited to few and they paid $5-10 to cover the cost of ingredients.

Hi All. I was thinking June 15th around 5:30 pm. We can start the cooking and demos and have dinner around 6:30-7Pm. I can accommodate comfortably about 20 to 30 people. if the weather is nice, I can accommodate a lot more, backyard. I was thinking more like a potluck/BBQ for dinner and we can choose what Korean dishes we want to make and demo as part of the dinner. Please make suggestions on what Korean dishes you would like to learn to make. If people are willing, we can have Korean card game, Karaoke and even watch Korean movie/soup opera after the dinner. Of course, drinking is allowed, BYOB. I will have a some Soju. Please respond to this post if you can make it. Also, note what food or side dish you are planning to cook or bring.

For those who are allergic to dogs and cats, I have one of each.

Hi, Can you remake this meetup? (make a new meetup) That way, we know who is actually planning to come. You might end up with 8.

    Hi everyone,
Michael has created a new meetup for this event. Please add yourself to the new meetup so that we can correctly discern who is coming and who is not. This meetup was suggested back in October last year and it's likely that half of the people on this list have forgotten about this event and will not come.

I would also like to ask that you check out the suggested meetups coming up. Where? On the K-Meetup Group page, click "Home" at the top left, then click the "Suggested" tab in the middle.

    Thanks,
    Doug

I'm willing to offer up my place in Vancouver. It has to be on a weekend and after 5pm...dinner time...if people are interested, we can stay for some karaoke afterwards. I don't have any Korean songs but I'm sure we can find some if people are interested.

I have added several new meetups (suggestions tab). Each needs 2 more people to be announced, so please sign up soon. I also added one that asks you to vote from something. It would be great if we can change things up a bit. Please take a look and help brainstorm. Two ideas I posted in the "Vote" meetup are bar hopping and game night. I can buy Go Stop tiles if we do that.

So.. there is a meetup suggested... awaiting 2 more RVSPs to be official. Titled "Korean Lunar New Year". It's in funky location but it will be perfect for a cooking class type of things..

You need 2 people to RSVP and the email then goes out to the entire group. I would suggest putting a time and date on the post so that you get people who will be able to RSVP to the actual ever and not just a suggestion. This event sounds interesting. Thanks for coordinating!

I will start a new one so that it will be suggested. I guess if there's enough people RSVP, then it becomes official? Since I'm not sure about dropping people off the list.

Sounds good to me. Let's do this though. Create a new event or drop everyone off this list. That way who ever re-signs up will be a realistic confirmation.

Lunar New year happens to fall on Sunday (Feb 10th) this year. Maybe we could make typical New Year food... I can host a kitchen where 10 people can interact comfortably or up to 15 people. The location is in Vancouver, WA, if no one minds. I could even plan a menu and go shop for the ingredients. I will need to know at least a week before (but sooner the better) to make sure there isn't any scheduling or facility usage conflict. If this sounds like something that could work for those who at least RSVP'd, could someone please let me know?

  • Dong-Hyun S.

I might be able to provide a location if it's on Saturday or Sunday.

I agree, but when? There are lots of things we could do here, but we need a host. I always did back home, but I can't do that here.
