Announcing a new Meetup for The Portland MST3K Meetup Group!

What: MST3K in June! 601- GIRLS TOWN and 424- MANOS: THE HANDS OF FATE!

When: Sunday, June 27,[masked]:15 PM

Hollywood Branch Library
4040 NE Tillamook St
Portland, OR 97213

Two! Count 'em: TWO full episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000! Sunday, June 27th at the HOLLYWOOD LIBRARY starting at 1:15 PM in the afternoon, we'll switching things up a bit by starting with an episode featuring the incomparable Mike Nelson, and then finishing with the sleepy-eyed comedy stylings of show creator Joel Hodgson.

In this corner! Mamie Van Doren and Paul Anka star (?) in a gritty-tale of girls gone bad! Real bad! Well, maybe they're not that bad... nothing that living with a flock of nuns at GIRLS TOWN won't cure. This is the movie that ushered in Ankamania to an unsuspecting American population, and nurses will be standing by to calm any viewer who is overwhelmed with the sheer magnetism of Mr. Paul Anka during the incredible "Ave Maria" musical number! Mike, Servo and Crow attempt to defend themselves against this 1959 release, also featuring Mel "The Velvet Fog" Torme.

And in this corner! For professional MST3K fans only! After the cherry topped sundae that is GIRLS TOWN, it's the famed, incredible, barely coherent MANOS: THE HANDS OF FATE! Starring no one and featuring nothing, this production deep from the heart of Texas and the hands of fertilizer salesman Harold P. Warren will make you gasp in disbelief and awe! If you are a fan of driving scenes, large-kneed men, and uncomfortable performances, then you will not want to miss Joel and the Bots riff heroically at this 1966 barely-released epic!

We will once again be meeting at the HOLLYWOOD branch of the Multnomah Public Library. We'll kick off at 1:15 PM on Sunday, June 27th, and if you feel the urge to bring some snacks to share, we thank you ahead of time.

And I promise to bring the better speakers.... Hope to see you all there!
