Tour de Lab Bicycle Ride (Benefits Dove Lewis Animal Hospital)

This may be your LAST CHANCE to ride with Meetup in 2009, because... This is the last of the four community bike rides I'm going on this year. Like the Worst Day and Hottest Day Rides, the Tour de Lab departs and returns to the Lucky Lab on NW Quimby. It's a Lucky Lab pub tour, on bikes! And, you get to dress up like a puppy along the way. I think I'll dress like a cat, just to be different. The Cat in the Hat maybe. Here's the website where you can see a video, and register until midnight on Thursday, 9/10: http://www.tourdelab.com And here are the ride details: ABOUT TOUR DE LAB DATE + LOCATION Sunday, September 13th, 10am Lucky Labrador NW - 1945 NW Quimby $30 Preregistration / $40 day of the ride Benefits Dove Lewis Animal Hospital RIDE OVERVIEW Tour de Lab is a bicycle tour of the three Lucky Lab brew pubs. You'll journey along urban routes on this 18-mile ride. But if you feel you really need to earn that pint, you can choose the 40-mile Big Dog course. At each of the rest stops you'll earn your doggie gear: tail, ears and nose. Once you're fully dogged up, it's time to kick back, relax and enjoy the dog days of summer with your Tour de Lab pint of Lucky Lab's handcrafted ale. The commemorative print glass is yours to keep. AMAZING REST STOPS! REST STOP #1 : The Fire Hydrant Southeast Sit pretty, speak, stay, be a good little biker and we'll give you a people biscuit! The Lucky Lab is making cookie biscuits for you to enjoy at this first rest stop. You'll also earn you dog collar to wear for the rest of the ride. REST STOP #2: The Dog Bed Multnomah Village Along the way to Multnomah Village, you'll cross the Willamette River and travel up a slight hill as you work up an appetite for the doggone good fresh dog tails (bread sticks) and marinara sauce. Roll over, play dead, shake paw and earn your doggie nose. REST STOP #3: The Dog Park Northwest It's a party at the dog park! You'll be rewarded with a custom etched Tour de Lab pint glass. Feast upon an all-you-can eat hot dog bar (gross!) with all the fixins. Relax and enjoy the afternoon with as you kick it with all the other dogs at the Lucky Lab! doggie bowl (pint glass). PETS ON COURSE Out of concern for your pet and other riders, no run-along dogs are allowed, but they are encouraged to lick your face as you cross the finish line. If your dog is friendly to crowds of humans and canines, and has EXPERIENCE being towed or carried, he/she may join us. PRE-RIDE CHECK IN (optional) Saturday, September 12th (time TBA) Lucky Lab NW - 1945 NW Quimby This pre-ride check in is a chance to get your entry information in advance, review the routes, ask questions, meet other riders, pick up your t-shirt and relax at the Lucky Lab. I'm concerned that this event is being promoted on this particular meetup group, for Vegetarians and Vegans, as Lucky Lab beer is not Veg friendly. They use gelatin to refine (filter) their beers. You can ask them directly, or check it out on barnivore.com .

Thanks for the information, Bonnie! I don't even drink, and was really concentrating on the Dove Lewis Animal Hospital benefit. But we'll be sure to avoid the beer. It's too bad that you can't join us, as I see you're a biker with a cute dog!

Who needs beer anyway? Better to be sober while riding. I've been to all three locations and they do better than most mainstream venues when it comes to offering veg-friendly food. They have a veggie bento bowl and their vegan pies are pretty good as well. Most of the sandwiches can be prepared vegan, all you have to do is ask.

The route was scary, but the company was great! I think we'll stick with the Worst Day of the Year Ride next year.
