Girls Night! Theme: Soups, Chowders, and Chili

Please remember to bring a copy of your recipe with ALL of the ingredients used, including packet ingredients. One member is gluten free, so it is important to include all ingredient information as well. THANK YOU!

The address & directions will be emailed out Wednesday, January 9th.

If the weather allows, we'll go sledding on the promenade so bring your sleds and wear warm clothing!

1. Date: Saturday, January 12th at 5pm

4. Theme: Soups, Chowders, and Chili

Please bring a soup, chowder, or chili, and a copy of the recipe to share. Please be sure to post the name of the soup, chowder, or chili  you will be bringing. Please try to bring your item in a crockpot and a ladle or spoon to serve it with. We will need someone to bring bowls, napkins, and spoons too please. To sign up for an item, please post a comment at the bottom of this page. Also, please be specific about what you will be bringing so we don't have duplicates. Thank you!

ALL MEETUPS Policy
Please remember, RSVP yes only if you plan to attend an event to allow us to plan accordingly. If you RSVP yes and change your mind on attending, you MUST provide at least 24 hours notice or you will be considered a "No Show". After 5 "No Shows", you will no longer be able to attend meetup events.

      I made it off the waitlist for the original event, and it sounds like there may be a couple of others that would be willing to host a second event, so perhaps I will let them them do that and reneg on my offer to host (sorry - would be willing at some point in the future :) ) let me look at my recipes for what to bring - I think I have a morrocan sweet potato stew thing but need to check...

    I am on the wait list, but do have some questions about this. I eat gluten free and if I get off the wait list would bring a gluten free soup, BUT I'm wondering if anyone else eats gluten free?
    Often, chili is gluten free, unless flour has been added or is in a spice packet mix. A soup with pasta has gluten, but wheat can be hidden in soups from thickening flours, broth bases or sauces/spices or soy sauce.
    So in regard to bringing the recipe, it is VERY important for me to know exactly what is in it.

      I'm not sure if anyone else currently attending eats gluten free. We ask that everyone bring copies of their recipes. I will re-enforce this and the importance of it regarding your diet if you make it off the waitlist. I hope that information helps!

      It helps, thank you. I realize this sort of diet is a challenge, and don't expect others to make changes for me. I just ask folks to be very aware of what you are using for ingredients, and anything that is processed, looking on the ingredient label for WHEAT, rye, barley. I LOVE soups and make them often. I use all my regular recipes, and alter any needs for flour with cornstarch. And on occasion, I use GF pasta. Thank you! If anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to answer them for you. :)
