THIS MONTH'S MOVIE SHOWING IS BEING POSTPONED TO ANOTHER MONTH. HOPEFULLY WE'LL HAVE A CRITICAL MASS TO RUN THE MOVIE IN JUNE. IN THE FUTURE, RSVP EARLY SO WE CAN ANTICIPATE COVERING OUR COSTS FOR THE ROOM AND THE MOVIE SHOWING RIGHTS. THANKS!

Here's the May installment of our monthly documentary showing! While there is no charge required to attend, we ask for a $5 contribution to cover the costs of the event space and the movie showing rights.

Urban Roots is a timely, moving and inspiring film that speaks to a nation grappling with collapsed industrial towns and the need to forge a sustainable and prosperous future.

URBAN ROOTS is the next documentary from Tree Media. Produced by Leila Conners (The 11th Hour) Mark MacInnis and Mathew Schmid.

.......................

After making The 11th Hour, it was clear to me that the oft-quoted saying “think globally, act locally” was the key to solving our environmental crisis.   When the story of the urban farmers in Detroit was brought to us, we knew that what they were doing – acting decisively and caring for themselves and their community – basically healing themselves and their neighborhoods through growing food, was that kind of local action that can make the world a better place so we committed to bringing their story to the world.
-Leila Conners, Producer.

“Urban Roots” - Filmmaker Mark MacInnis tells the powerful story of a group of dedicated Detroiters working tirelessly to fulfill their vision for locally grown, sustainably farmed food in a city cut off from real food and limited to processed fast food. This group has taken on the enormous task of changing this reality. www.urbanrootsamerica.com

Hello, we’ve had a change of plans regarding showing Symphony of the Soil in May due it’s recent screening at the Hollywood Theater.  I hope many of you were able to see this wonderful film on the big screen, we plan to show it here in the Fall.  Our May film, Urban Roots, tells a great story, and is another well made film that is good food for thought and discussion, hope you can join in!
-Diane, event host
