This workshop will focus on different types of fruiting crops that are available right now. We will taste different varieties and discuss recipes and ways to put up the harvest of berries. In addtion, many herbs can be dried for tea or medicine. practices for collecting and drying herbs for your home. Our bioregion has a long drought period during the summer. We will talk about water catchment and how to determine what type of system would work best for your household. As always, this class will highlight what is happening in the garden in July, how to preserve your harvest, and prepare for the coming month. Handouts will include a to do list for the month, herbs for tea, and other pertinent information. This workshop will be offered outdoors in a location(s) to be announced, most likely in SE Portland. We will be meeting in the Woodstock neighborhood and touring 3 sites in this area with diverse gardens, lots of berries, and water catchment examples. The entire class will be outdoors. I will have lots of different kinds of berries for sampling!
