Winter Pruning, Cuttings, and Grafting Site Prep

Want to learn about how to save an Orchard?  This series of workshops will provide knowledge and hands-on experience in how to care for fruit trees by pruning, best practices for non-chemical pest and disease control, several different grafting techniques, how to graft multiple varieties on one tree, how to clone a tree, and hopefully tons of inspiration for our future!

This workshop will focus specifically on winter fruit tree pruning, taking cuttings, and getting ready for grafting at the next workshop offered at this specific urban farm site in SE Portland. You can take one, any or all of the workshops offered (3 in Beaverton, 2 in SE Portland).

Please come join us for some winter time fun!

Bring pruning shears or a pruning saw if you have them. Extras will be available.

Class Cost: $15/Participant for each day.

Class Instuctors:

Matthew Voedisch of Rising Stone Farms CSA

Jeff Johnson of Rising Stone Farms CSA

William Schmidt, PHD BioChemistry

Matt has a very open style of instruction and allowed us to use what he taught us to prune fruit trees at Jean's Farm. I hope I will be able to take another class from you on grafting Matt. Thank you!!

Matt did a great job choosing the site and explaining the concept for us. The group had a wide range of experience but it was comfortable and I think we all definitely learned something. I only wish the workshop had been longer.
