Mt Hood Meadows skiing/boarding

Number of members who can attend: We are limited by the number of drivers. As more drivers sign up more seats will be made available. The people on the waiting list will automatically be moved up. Let me know if you can drive when you sign up. Meeting place: We meet in the SE corner of the parking structure (NOT the parking lot!) at the Gateway Transit Center. I drive a Blue Dodge Dakota Truck. For some reason a number of people have had a hard time finding us so please make sure you are in the right place. If you are concerned about finding us feel free to make a comment and I'll send you my phone number so that you can call the day of the event if need be.

Riding up: There is no need to arrange rides prior to arriving at Gateway. We'll always drive the fewest possible number of cars to the mountain and will divide up at Gateway. No one will be left behind. Be on time, though. We don't wait for stragglers.

Gas money: Each rider pays $15 to the driver for each trip. Please have cash ready and offer to the driver without him/her having to ask.

On the mountain: Most of us prefer to ski/board with others. Once at Meadows we meet up by the outside ticket booth and group up according to skill level. You can of course take off on you own if you prefer.

Helmets save lives. Please wear one.

Disclaimer: While this is a regular Meetup event it is not “led” in the same way we might be used to having Meetup events led. I'll see you long enough to get you in a car at Gateway and possibly again at Meadows long enough to get you hooked up with a group but unless you are skiing with me we will have limited contact. Each person needs to self manage, come prepared for the weather conditions and ski/board according to his/hers ability.

Liability Waiver:

As with User Agreements on the Internet that we all click on but never read hundreds if not thousands of event organizers around the country have event participants sign boiler plate liability waivers prior to events that aren't read by the participants. I have little faith that those waivers would hold up in court should something unfortunate happen during the event and the organizer get end up in court being sued. In plain language I want to make it real clear that you are participating in this event at your own risk and that by signing up you are releasing the event organizers of all liability. All outdoor events are potentially high risk and you need to use your personal judgement in keeping that risk below your comfort level. You should never do anything you feel might result in injury or worse depending on someones judgement other then your own. Should injury or worse still occur you realize the fault is your own and you agree not to pass the blame to the event organizer or another team member. You may participate in the event only under these conditions.

    How many cars...how many people?

    February 21, 2014

    • John

If my count is right we have spots for 21 people if everyone who is driving shows up.

Can't drive this weekend, unfortunately -- truck stuck in the shop.

Hi, first time! Hope to come tomorrow, but will need a ride. Anybody have a spare helmet? (mine isn't for snowboard) Also, any major cost to budget for besides lift ticket and gas money?

Hi, I can drive on Saturday. No rack, but I can take 2 passengers + gear (A4 with split back seat). I'm new to the group & RSVPs are closed, how do I sign up?

    February 20, 2014

    • Helen

Can I get a contact #, just in case I'm navigationally challenged finding the meeting point?

I am interested in coming as well. I can drive (4 passenger + gear AWD). I cannot rsvp, but I will show up to gateway and can drive or not drive.

    February 20, 2014

    • John

I opened up the RSVP list. Thanks for offering to drive.

      February 21, 2014

    • Blake

I miss spoke. It would be me +3 passengers, and I rsvped for me +1. So I can give 2 more people a ride.

I'll go Saturday, and can drive. 4*4 xterra with rack for 4 pair of ski's, so me +3. Main concern is finding you at the garage. I google mapped it and it looks like the garage is north of the parking lot (with some building between them) Is that it, and are you inside the garage or out on the street?

    February 20, 2014

    • Sean

Yes. That's it. We'll be inside the garage

      February 20, 2014

    • Jessica

The standard meet up spot is inside the SE corner of the parking structure just north of that building you mentioned.

Hi all! Another great offering for discounted lift tickets from Liftopia for this weekend (http://tinyurl.com/l8vu7te)! I used it this past weekend with my boyfriend from out of town and it's legit. No reason not to save money! Also, remember, if you have a season's pass/10x/Club or whatever, most of them have a "buddy pass" feature that you can use to get discounted lift tickets.

Enjoy the freshies, my friends. I wish I could be there. I was up on Monday and absolutely loved every second of it.

I can't make it Saturday. Is anyone up for going on Sunday? I can drive but have a "regular" car - no 4WD or studded tires but I do have chains. Let me know if you are interested in going Sunday!

    February 18, 2014

    • Jessica

Hi Lucas - we have four people so our car is full for Sunday but message me your cell # and I can text you Sunday morning if someone can't make it at the last minute.

    • Jessica

If you can drive Blake then Lucas can come also. Meet at Gateway at 6:45 am to leave by 7 sharp. Will msg you my number.

Tomorrow Friday or next week Friday? I might be interested if next week. Willing to chip in for gasand the parking pass.

  • Lucas N.

    What is the seat count?

    February 20, 2014

    • John

Looks like we tentatively have 12.

      February 20, 2014

  • John

The RSVP list is temporarily closed until we can confirm we have enough seats for those who have already signed up. So far it appears myself and John Henebry are willing to drive so we have room for a total of eight people. Please, if anyone else can drive speak up so when Saturday comes people are not stuck without a ride.

What time do you usually stay to?

    February 20, 2014

    • John

The scheduled end time is 4:00. The end time is not fixed and can vary depending on the wants and needs of who you rode up with.

I can drive if needed. I have a Subaru Impreza, so I have AWD. I can drive myself +3. I have a ski rack, that will fit 4 pair of skis.

Can we try and figure out who can and cannot drive before Saturday and close off the sign up list temporally until we get that sorted? The more the merrier, unless there isn't enough room to transport everyone.

    February 19, 2014

  • Jan S.

    I cannot drive.

Hi all! I would love to get a ride up on Saturday. Is there some sort of list we need to put our names on or do you just show up at the Gateway Transit Center? Looking forward to all this snow!!

    February 18, 2014

    • John

Just RSVP as a yes. Hopefully we will have enough people willing to drive to drive the whole group.

      February 18, 2014

    • Asta G.

      Great! Looking forward to it!

      February 18, 2014

  • John

When people RSVP could they state if they can drive if needed so we can get a idea how many seats we will have available.
