This is an all day, stop-and-go ramble. Get an up-close look at the volcano (USGS and the geology permitting). Hike through spectacular old-growth like 6' diameter Noble firs into the 1980 blast zone and back again and appreciate the past, present, and future of our nearest active volcano. There are ten species of conifers on this hike. Bring binoculars and cameras. Pace averages 1.5 mi/hr, including lots of breaks. Feel free to stop and photograph flowers, watch for birds, or track elk and coyote.
Brewpub to follow.
Meet at 7:00 AM, back around 8:00 PM (Sunrise: 7:17 AM Sunset: 6:39 PM)
