TLF: Badger Cr. Wilderness - Fret Cr./Flag Pt. 8.8 mi.; 2,000' gain; 5,650' peak

Moderately-paced naturalist-led hike through subalpine and diverse east-side forest including lots of big larches, with dramatic, photogenic cliff-top views from Palisade Point and long views into Eastern Oregon from the watchtower atop Flag Point.

Wilderness area regulation restricts attendance to 12 heartbeats, so no dogs - that would be one less person.

Brewpub to follow.

Meet at 7:00 AM, back around 8:00 PM (Sunrise 6:58 AM Sunset 7:09 PM)

It's 8.8 miles round trip - 4.4 miles each way. The brewpub is optional - unless you're riding with me :-) It's about 2h to the TH. Time on the trail is highly variable, depending on the capabilities and interests of whoever is hiking. ETA @ TH: 9:30 AM. Typical elapsed time, including breaks, would be 7 hours, so that's 4:30 PM off the trail, and going straight back to Gateway arriving at 6:30 PM. Supper will add another hour. I'll change the estimated return from 9:00 PM to 8:00 PM, but we might get back sooner depending on how the day goes. Brewpub: http://www.solerabrewery.com/

Solera is a small, two-room-plus-patio brewpub, a one-off not part of a chain. It has a pretty simple and modestly priced menu, great beer - and a wonderful view of Mt. Hood from the patio.

Hi everyone. I'm not interested in the brewpub like some of you, so I join the "beer skipping team"-))

Is it 8.8 miles round trip? I am thinking about joining but my ensurance is only about 10 miles.

What time do we return? Is it before dark? I don't care for brewpub neither...

I'm also really interested in the hike but would need to get home before 9 so would also skip the brewpub unfortunately...
