Block 15 Tour (w/ optional Flat Tail brewer chat and taste following)

  • December 8, 2013 · 10:00 AM

Nick Arzner from Block 15 will give a tour of the brewery's cellar and talk about their spontaneous fermentation project.

The 10 am time is the departure time from Portland for people who share rides. Tracy will be in touch to help organize carpool groups, meeting points, and return times.

We will meet by 12:00 at Les Caves for Brunch, which is located above Block 15's cellars.

Around 1 pm we will do the tour with Nick.

For those who are interested, some of us will visit Flat Tail (0.2 miles from Block 15) at 2 p.m. for a chat with Dave Marliave and a tasting of sour and wild beers he'll be sure are on tap in numbers.

The brewers knew their stuff, were passionate about wild ales, were generous with their time, and there was one very sexy coolship to sniff.

Hey all, do we have a meeting spot for the "need rides" and "drivers" for Sunday?

    December 5, 2013

    • Tracy C.

Not yet, but I'm on it tonight. Meant to be on it this afternoon and a nap snuck up on me. Need to get a job.

We're up for hitting Flat Tail afterwards as well.

I have a car with room for three people. Will we all be bringing beers to this next event?

    November 26, 2013

    • AdeWolf

No, there will be enough beer to sample and purchase at Block 15.

      November 26, 2013

    • Tracy C.

Though, those of you who brew may want to bring your beer in growlers you are willing to leave behind with the brewers at Block 15 and Flat Tail...

As someone pointed out to me last night, Flat Tail more-than-dabbles in sour beer too. They have a session sour at 2.5% fermented in Pinot barrels, a cucumber berlinerweiss, a Flanders red, and a 100% brett also in Pinot barrels. Wow! I'm going with or without you suckers! Should we try to get in a second officially scheduled visit? Does anyone know their mustachioed Jimmy Fallon look-alike brewer?
If you have a strong Duck loyalty, you should probably not go, though.

I am interested in going, but I need to arrange for a ride, and will happily contribute for gas.

Cory, I'm positive we'll have no problem with transportation. I can always rent a minivan Zipcar or somethin', but I don't think that will have to happen.

I'd be interested in carpooling to Block 15. Cheers, Christopher. [masked]

Here is the other organizer. Car-less, too. I'd appreciate a ride.

I'm one of those hip car-less urbanites. I can split a car rental with some of you other HCUs if necessary.

We've got room for two more in our car if need be. We live downtown.
