De Garde Holiday Celebration & Release Party

I would very much like to head out to this event and it seems like a great event for this group. We could carpool and save some Earth! If you are unable to go, it might be possible to just pick up a ton of bottles and put together a tasting at a better time... just an idea. It starts at noon so I figured leaving at 10:30 would leave ample time to get there (and would better the chances for getting bottles) although anyone can show up whenever.

From De Darde:

We are hosting our newest series of bottle and draft releases in celebration of the holiday season on Saturday, December 7th from 12pm to 6pm.

We will be offering FIVE different limited edition bottlings, in quantities ranging from 150 to 450 total bottles.

The Archer
The first bottle release from our Lambic-inspired program. After extended aging and a naturally occurring wild fermentation in oak barrels, we added large quantities of Pinot Noir grapes from a favorite premier estate vineyard in the Dundee Hills viticulture area. A notable acidity with pronounced fruit character leads, with a notable spice and wild backing. Complex and evolving in the glass.
Grain: Northwest malted barley, Northwest unmalted wheat
Hops: 5 year aged Oregon Cascade hops
7% abv

A VERY strong golden colored ale, fermented with our wildly occurring yeast and bacteria in oak barrels with honey, and aged for an extended time. Morningstar leads with a fruit forward nose indicative of both the wild yeast strains as well as the subtle dry hopping, finds an herbal, honey, and oak spiced structure in the middle and finishes dry with a lingering crisp wild character and stone fruit notes.

Imperial Raspberry Bu
A larger version of our Berliner Weisse inspired sour wheat beer, 'Bu Weisse.' This version is aged on over 2lbs per gallon of Oregon Raspberries in first use Red Wine barrels.
Vibrantly fruity with a brisk acidity and lingering fruit and barrel character.

Imperial Blackberry Bu
A larger version of our Berliner Weisse inspired sour wheat beer, 'Bu Weisse.' This version is aged on over 2lbs per gallon of Oregon Blackberries in first use Red Wine barrels.
Rich fruit character with a balancing acidity and lingering fruit and earth notes.

Imperial Boysenberry Bu
A larger version of our Berliner Weisse inspired sour wheat beer, 'Bu Weisse.' This version is aged on over 2lbs per gallon of Oregon Boysenberries in first use Red Wine barrels.
Rounded fruit in the front, with with crisp acid character followed by richer barrel notes and a balanced structure.

We will also be announcing a couple other surprises as we get closer, so please stay tuned!

As always, we encourage you to consider enjoying an evening locally to facilitate a safe and fun event, and please let us know if you are attending so that we may prepare to the best of our ability.
We look forward to seeing you here and to celebrating the season with you!
Happy Holidays!

Can't beat the de Garde beer, but beer nerds bringing and sharing hard-to-get wild ales was a great bonus. Meeting beer buyers, makers, purveyors, and servers was awesome too (in how many industries could you say that?)

We can't make this after all.

Yeah! Niki is going! Now all y'all are gonna want to come.

I would love to make it especially since I have two keepers memberships but alas my schedule is too full to make this or the Block15 event. I really hope to make it to an event soon with this group or the next bottle share.

I will be there, but am already carpooling with some friends.

Since the release is at the tasting room, not the brewery, there won't be too much interesting to see, but hopefully we can introduce the group to Trevor and Lindsey and lay the groundwork for a future visit to the brewery itself.

I can ditto everything that Aschwin said, but instead of Blazers game, I just want time to recover for the next day trip to Corvallis. This would be a big weekend! Alternatively, two separate members have offered to broker a PWAS event with Trevor and Lindsey, so we might be there as a group soon, without as much outside competition. De Garde is worth lots of visits, of course.

I have a car for this event that will fit the 3 of us easily so it sounds like we have a plan. Leave downtown about 10:30 and hang out until around 2 or 3 depending leaving us plenty of time. It's good that there are people that might already have connections but I was hoping to meet Trevor or Lindsey as let them know what we are all about which might help facilitate a PWAS visit. I think of "competition" more as "new people to meet" although De Garde is a pretty tight spot.

Thanks, bill. That sounds great. By interesting coincidence, I sent a message just before you posted this comment letting a few people who have mentioned de Garde, including one who had plans to go to this same release, encouraging them to take a look at this suggested Meetup. I'd have copied you, but I don't have your non-Meetup email, I don't think. If you want to be added to the string, let me know at [masked].

I'd love to go to this one but I have to be back in Portland around 6 pm to attend the Blazers game. If there are people driving back to Portland before the evening, I might go.

I would only plan on staying for about 2 or 3 hours and Tillamook is about an hour or so away which should get you back with time to spare.

Sounds good then. I am leaning towards going there. I would need a ride from someone who intends to go back to Portland before the evening (I can contribute to gas etc.) though.
