Have you been wishing you could get some writing instruction but ever balked at the cost or the commitment? If so, Deb McKew, a member of Portland Writers Group and a writing instructor (find out more about her and all her endeavors at www.wordsinplay.net), has offered to host a two-hour workshop on how to write effective dialogue. The workshop will include a pre-assignment (see below), in-class writing prompts, and a lesson on dialogue.
This workshop is free and for one-time only, so please take advantage of this opportunity and let both myself - Scott, PWG organizer and founder - and Deb know what you think, and maybe we can work out more of these in the future.
Take a notebook with you wherever you go. For one week, write snippets of overheard real conversation (while you are waiting in line, sitting on a bus, dining at a restaurant). Make a list of these snippets in your notebook and bring these with you to the workshop.
