Write Club

This is how Write Club works:

• Once WRITE CLUB is underway, the host will provide attendees with a prompt. Attendees may use the prompt as inspiration or work on something else they’ve been developing. It’s completely up to you.

• Participants will then write for about 30-40 minutes.

• Once the writing portion is completed, attendees will have a choice of three tables to have their work reviewed: BLESS, PRESS and ADDRESS.

BLESS  -  The BLESS table will focus on positive feedback only.

PRESS  - The PRESS table will focus on really tightening up the story overall (for instance, if you’re thinking of submitting your story to a literary magazine, you might want to choose this table).

ADDRESS - The ADDRESS table will focus on specific issues the writer may want help with, such as dialogue, character, or something else the writer is really stumbling over.

• Once you’ve chosen your table, you’ll be paired off with someone at that same editing stage. You will swap writing, either by reading each other’s work or by reading your work aloud to the other. You’ll provide feedback (oral and/or written).

If time permits, pairs may be formed again and/or you might have an opportunity to move to another table.

4.  WRITE CLUB take out -

This WRITE CLUB will end, but that doesn’t mean the conversations have to. If you’re interested, you can submit (email) your work to the host who will create a Google Doc, share it back with you (making you the owner). When you’re ready, he will post it on The Write Club website:www.thewriteschool.tumblr.com. You’ll have the ability to choose who sees your work and what kind of permissions they have (editing, commenting, or just reading). If someone you don’t know wants to read your work, you’ll get an email asking your permission.

One final note:
If you RSVP Yes and then find you can’t attend prior to the meetup, please take the time to change your RSVP to No, or contact the host privately or through the comments section to express your regrets. This is to ensure people who are automatically waitlisted can attend and it helps the host in gathering enough tables and chairs to seat everyone who RSVPed Yes. This meetup occurs in a freely and kindly provided space that isn’t reserved to us exclusively, so please be respectful of your host and the venue by being thoughtful in letting the host know if you can’t attend as you’d hoped to.

Also, please be aware that the host cannot guarantee electrical outlets, or enough of them, will be nearby to where the meetup occurs. Please plan ahead and/or consider ‘kicking it old school’ and bringing a pen and paper to write with, even as a back-up.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
