Sudden Writing 2.0

Is it hard finding the time and the space to write, or are you wanting to write but lacking ideas? Wouldn't it be great to write in the company of others, be inspired and maybe make a new friend or two? If so, this meetup is for you.

Here’s how it will work. Once the meetup is underway, you will have one of two options:

Option 1
The host will choose a prompt blindly. This prompt will be read aloud to the group and placed somewhere within easy reach/sight for reference. Participants will then write as directed or suggested by the prompt for one hour, or…

Option 2
You already have something you want to work on and you’re here to do just that. You’ll write on your own for one hour too, and then…

Depending on everyone’s mood, we’ll gather collectively, individually or in groups, and anyone interested may read their work. This is completely voluntary, however you may experience a little gentle peer pressure. :) Most people do tend to read what they've written though, and we often offer very light comments or discussion in encouragement.

That’s it! From there you can do with it what you will: file it away for later, develop it into a full-blown story, take it in a direction not suggested by the prompt, and of course maybe submit it to one of the writing workshops or to our companion website for further online feedback. More information on these options will be provided at the meetup to those of you who may be interested.

One final note:
If you RSVP Yes and then find you can’t attend prior to the meetup, please take the time to change your RSVP to No, or contact the host through the comments section to express your regrets. This is to ensure people who are automatically waitlisted can attend.

Also, please be aware that the host cannot guarantee enough electrical outlets will be available. Please plan ahead and/or consider ‘kicking it old school’ and bringing a pen and paper to write with, even as a back-up.

These are the meetings I was interested in attending, but I'm uncertain, where the Think Tank is. I found it on the map and know WHERE it is, what I meant was, when I get there, where exactly do I go to find the meeting itself? I'm not familiar with the building layout and I have Autism (and get lost and confused very easily) I was wondering if someone could point out directions of where to go once I get into the building, how to find the room itself where the meeting will take place. Or will it be obvious where it is once I walk in the door?

I keep asking questions, sorry. Got another one. The $1 price when/where/how do I pay that? I'm assuming cash at the door? Or is it pay in advance online? Sorry, I couldn't find where it says.

Oh and I write longhand on a DigiMemo so no outlets required. It takes everything I write on paper and stores it in the clipboard under the paper, than when I get home I just plug the clipboard into my computer and it types everything up for me. I love it. Highly recommend it for folks who want to write long hand and not have to retype it later. I think they are about $150 on Amazon. I got mine used on eBay for $58. They are great for meetings like these. I use mine to go writing on the beach or outside in the garden and to everyplace like these writing meetings so that I never have to worry about taking my laptop and than not having a place to plug it in.

Just wanted to say goodbye, moving back to Santa Fe. It was a tough decision, but I've got to follow my heart. Keep up the great writing!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
