Carolyn Leonard suggested Podnah's Pit Barbecue at our last meeting. I'm glad she did! They have some of the best Texas style ribs I've ever tasted. I'm not alone in thinking this; Willamette Week named it 2011 Restaurant of the Year. It's been praised by Bon Apetit's Foodist Andrew Knowlton as one of his personal favorites. The food is great and there are always specials.
I put their Early (until 1 p.m.) and Main Menus in the Files section of this web site. Prices are reasonable for the huge, delicious meals, and you can get just a single rib or sausage if you aren't very hungry.
Theses guys get up early in the morning to start the smoking.
When checking the place out I got a quarter-rack of ribs with kale (they were out of collards) and Texas Caviar black-eyed peas salad. Delicious!
The only parking is on the street, but is shouldn't be too big a problem. There's a market across the street where you may be able to park, there were no signs against parking there, but I parked next to the door.
Remember, there's a discussion thread on the web site where you can make your own recommendations. Thanks to Mike Colwell for his suggestion, add yours!
See you there, Podnah!
