Hello To all members of PIMC meetup group

Hello there Meetup members of PIMC
I am just learning how to use the "social media" including Meetup.
There are some very exciting developments at the Portland Insight Meditation Center. In case you have not discovered it, we have a very extensive website with lots of entry points to learn to meditate.

One of my favorite parts of the website is the video collection of about twenty mystical poems that I recite using my drum.

Live webcast

While it is a quite different energy and much more engaging to be present on Sunday evenings at the Center, it is now possible to join us on the net with live streaming. The broadcast begins at 6 and goes till about 8:10 or so.
If you would like to tune in please visit at that time. You may also go to that same address at any time and watch recordings of prior Sunday evenings.

Last Tuesday was the first meeting of an eight week class on Tuesday evenings. It is an excellent way to get a solid foundation for meditation practice. I call it Introduction to Meditation and Buddhist Psychology.

Even though the first class has occurred you may still join the class this coming Tuesday. The first class was recorded on ustream and you could watch that and be "up to speed". If you wish to attend please register online.

There is a second class, intended for those with some prior experience in Mindfulness Meditation called Going Deeper: Love Compassion and Wisdom beginning Wednesday evening January 27th.

One way to take your meditation to a new level, with greater concentration and insight is to participate in a retreat.
There are two retreats coming up soon and another at Breitenbush in the summer. The complete list of retreats for 2010 is on the website.

The first is in Eugene on January 31.

The second retreat will be residential at Mt. Angel retreat center March 5 - 8. The information and registration information for this will be posted on the PIMC website in the next few days.

I hope that you will continue to listen to the call of your inner life and join us at PIMC when the time is right.
