This group is a resource for the Portland region of National Novel Writing Month Participants. November is National Novel Writing Month, when a bunch of crazy people attempt to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days, but more about that at http://nanowrimo.org.*

We offer regularly scheduled write-ins around Portland and environs year-round. This group is also the planning headquarters for Portland's own regional fundraiser, the Soiree of Furious Typing (our hack version of the more official Night of Writing Dangerously). Money raised through Portland NaNo will support 1) hosting of Portland NaNo at meetup.com, and 2) event expenses for Portland region events surrounding and during NaNoWriMo including but not limited to an event kickoff in October, the Soiree in November and the TGIO in December, with any remaining funds 3) donated to the Office of Letters and Light for the Portland Region of NaNoWriMo participants.
