History and Legacy (dinner and discussion)

One of the benefits of philosophy is to compel us to contemplate the big picture. How often do you stop and contemplate your place in the unfolding story of existence? How can we unpack and deconstruct what it means to be part of both the unfolding stories of our own individual lives and the collective unfolding story of existence as a whole? What responsibilities do we have, if any, to the history which came before us, and to the legacy we shall leave behind both individually and as a species?

If all of this seems too abstract, perhaps even intimidating - don’t worry, you are not alone. As per usual, thought-provoking questions will be provided to our facilitators.

Facilitator Information

As previously mentioned, our members take turns helping to facilitate our discussions. We require one discussion facilitator for each table of 6 people but I doubt that we`ll have a problem finding volunteers. I`ve created a special video just to explain what is involved with facilitating our discussions.

If you would like to attend this event then you need to sign up as a member and RSVP for this event on-line through this website only. Please do not show up in person if you haven't signed up since there are limited seats available and this will cause confusion.

Please try to arrive on time (in consideration of your fellow attendees). Don't be shy to sign up to this event since I'll cancel and provide refunds if less than 6 people sign up. I will book a 3rd table (of 6 people) if there is enough interest in this event.

The discussions will begin once people have settled and have ordered their drinks/food. As a courtesy to your fellow attendees and to the facilitators, please arrive on time.

I agree there should have been more males and instead of 90 mins with the same group, 45 mins would have been better and then a switch. Different perspectives will have different reactions-I loved the meeting.

Being the only male at my table (there was also one male at the other table) it would have been interesting to hear more male opinions. None the less, the discussion was lively. I do think that "History" and "Legacy" are two pretty separate topics, each of which would have been worthy of an entire evening of discussion.

as just one of the newcomers to this event, i felt it went well overall. participants made great contributions about the topic. i believe as we all become more familiar with the process of PD's, things will run even more smoothly.

Discussion topic wasn't clearly defined by our group, so I felt the discussion fell flat.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend this event in person but I will be coordinating it to run just as smoothly as the events which I'm able to attend in person. Please see this page for more details:

As I mentioned earlier, I'd be happy to volunteer as a facilitator for this event. Sounds like a great topic.
