Trajan is a DIFFICULT and SUPER FUN game, scoring 7.95/10 at BoardGameGeek. It has lots of little pieces, a tricky mancala (colored pieces in a circle of bowls) mechanic to determine action type, and 6 varities of action/ victory point accumulation.
If you like heavy games on par with Agricola, Power Grid & Shipyard, you just may fall in love. If you're new to Euros (and if you don't know what that phrase means, it means YOU), save yourself for another event.
Location: Heather's in Hollywood District. Allergy alert: 1 cat, peanuts, 4 steps with handrail. Near bus, MAX. Exact address to be emailed to RSVPs 1-2 days before event.
I know a couple other PWGG regulars own Trajan. I'm crossing my fingers that summa y'all will volunteer to teach/lead tables. Each game plays up to 4 so I'll up the attendance limit accordingly.
If you've been curious about European/Non-traditional board games, (also called Euros), or simply want to meet new people, join us!
There's quite a few gaming groups in Portland already, but after hosting my own co-ed group for several years I've found that not nearly as many women as men game so I decided to start this group as an alternative.
New players and all ages/orientations of women are welcome. Those who want to teach a specific game to the group are particularly encouraged to contact me. I'll host the first few meet-ups at my house in Sellwood until we have a regular schedule established.
Some of the games we'll be playing include: Settlers of Catan, San Juan, Ticket to Ride, Puerto Rico, Power Grid, Dominion and Carcassone. Any other questions, just ask!
