If you played a band instrument in your youth and want to pick it up again, this is the group for you. The Portsmouth New Horizons Band is a program of the Portsmouth Music and Arts Center (PMAC). Our program has seven ensembles:

  • New Horizons Band (a concert band for adults)
    • Tuesday nights, 7:30-9pm at the Portsmouth High School Band Room
  • Brewery Lane Big Band (a jazz/swing style big band for adults)
    • Wednesday nights, 7-9pm at the Portsmouth Middle School Band Room
  • Adult Blues Band
    • Wednesday nights, 7:30-9pm at PMAC, 75 Albany Street, Portsmouth
  • Adult Jazz Combo
    • Thursday nights, 7:30-9pm at PMAC, 75 Albany Street, Portsmouth
  • Chamber Strings for Adults
    • Tuesday nights, 7:30-9pm at PMAC, 75 Albany Street, Portsmouth
  • Adult Flute Choir
    • Tuesday nights, 6:15-7:15pm at the Portsmouth High School Band Room
  • Adult Saxophone Ensemble
    • Tuesday nights, 6:15-7:15pm at the Portsmouth High School Band Room

Each group meets up weekly with professional instructors to learn a wide variety of fun music. ANYONE over age 21 can try it out for FREE. If you stick with a band, there is a tuition, but we do offer financial aid to those in need. Our next session begins January 30, 2012 and runs through May.
