"The Buddy Holly Story" at the Ogunquit Playhouse

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND FULLY.

Your RSVP to the earlier survey does not automatically sign you up for this event.  You must RSVP to this event if you want to attend.

Your RSVP of "Yes" to this event will secure your ticket(s).  You do not need to buy tickets through the playhouse website or the box office.  In fact, if you do, you will NOT be considered part of this event's group ticket arrangement.

The most popular musical in Ogunquit Playhouse history returns by popular demand! Buddy rocks the Playhouse for three weeks only! Follow the incredible journey of Buddy Holly’s meteoric rise to fame to the top of the record charts during the golden days of rock ‘n’ roll, to his untimely death in 1959 in this popular tribute. You’ll be cheering for more, with such rousing fifties favorites as “Peggy Sue,” “Oh Boy,” “Maybe Baby,” “That’ll Be the Day,” “Raining In My Heart,” Ritchie Valens’ “La Bamba” and the Big Bopper’s “Chantilly Lace.”

We have reserved a block of 25 great seats for this show -- Center Orchestra about half way back. The playhouse will be able to accommodate more of us, however, those beyond the first 25 may not end up sitting with the group.

The tickets are $55 each, which is a $10 discount from the usual $65 cost. And, we can enjoy a complimentary glass of champagne in the Gazebo Garden at 7:00.  Show time is at 7:30.

If your RSVP is still a "YES" on September 4th, you will be considered as having bought your ticket(s). All of our "unclaimed" seats will also be released at that time.  The playhouse will try to accommodate anyone who signs up after September 4th but they probably won't end up sitting with the group.

We need to make payment in full by mid-September. I will pay the playhouse for all of our tickets and trust that anyone who signs up will reimburse me for his/her ticket(s).

Great show with a tremendously talented cast and great music. At the beginning of the show they said that people would be dancing in the aisles and they were right.

What a great show! Very talented cast, great music. I can see why it was rated the best show in Ogunquit Playhouse history. Glad that we were able to make this happen.

Hi, I still have about half of the tickets for tonight's show. I will be in front of the playhouse from 7:00 - 7:30 for those of you who don't have your tickets yet. While I presume that all of you are pretty punctual, if you are running late, you will need to pick up your tickets and drink vouchers at the "Gift Window" in the lobby after 7:30. I have been assured that they won't be gifted to someone else. Give them your name and let them know that you are part of the Portsmouth and Beyond meetup group.

See you tonight. It should be a great show.

For those of you who did not sign up by 9/4...

The remaining seats that were being held for us have now been released for general sale. However, if you would like to attend the show, let me know (an e-mail would be better than just RSVPing for the event) and I will work with Group Sales at the playhouse to get you seats as close to us as possible. It will also save you a few dollars in fees that you would have to pay by buying the tickets through the box office or via the playhouse website.

FYI...According to the playhouse, the champagne vouchers can be used for any beverage served at the Gazebo (i.e. champagne, beer, wine, water or a soft drink) either before the show or during intermission.

Where should I send payment? Thanks Paul!

Hi Judi, glad that you'll be able to join us. I'll send out a note to everyone in the next day or so to lay out the next steps.

Just a quick reminder that I will be purchasing all of our tickets on September 4th. For those of you currently signed up to attend, if your plans have changed, please change your RSVP accordingly so that you don't end up paying for ticket(s) that you no longer want.

We have plenty of open seats in our reserved block so, if there is anyone else who you'd like to join you/us, feel free to ask them.

Great job Paul. Is anyone traveling from Bedford/Chelmsford/lowell/methuen? And does anyone knows how long the drive is around that time of day?

    July 31, 2013

    • Paul

I would guess that the drive would be about 75 minutes from Methuen at that time.

Good news! Thanks to Edgar's note, we will be entitled to the "Champagne Friday" package -- the ticket price is now further reduced to $55 and we can enjoy a complimentary glass of champagne in the Gazebo Garden at 7:00. I have updated the event details accordingly.

    Hi Paul,
The Playhouse has a promotion on October 4th. The ticket, including Champagne before the show, is offered for $ 55. Maria and I purchased already these tickets.

Edgar, Thanks for pointing that out. I have sent a note about this to the Group Sales Coordinator. I will post an update when I hear back from the playhouse.
