1st Annual Portsmouth Fire & Ice Festival, Friday's activities

Make the most of winter right here in Portsmouth at the First Annual Portsmouth Fire and Ice Festival.

This new city-wide Festival offers day-time fun for families, special programs and offers in stores, restaurants and performing arts spaces as well as evening entertainment. (See the schedule of events below.)

Portsmouth Gas Light Company hosts its Fire & Ice Fest on Friday through Sunday evenings, with three ice bars, fire pits, ice luges, wood fire-grilled food and ice sculptures.

Strawbery Banke Museum will host a hearth-cooking workshop and dinner on Friday.    

New Hampshire Public Television will be screening films at Seacoast Repertory Theater selected to promote their group tour to Iceland in June 2014 with Willem Lange, while the Players Ring will be showcasing performances by Patrick Dorow Productions.

President's Day Weekend Hearth-Cooking Workshop at Strawbery Banke Museum. ($65. Advance reservations required at

Portsmouth Gas Light Company Fire + Ice Fest Charity Night. Begins at 6pm with all proceeds from the door and raffle tickets to benefit Pro Portsmouth, Strawbery Banke and Seacoast Repertory Theater. There will be three ice bars, fire pits, ice luges, wood fire grilled food and ice sculptures. Beverages are sponsored by Southern Wine and Spirits and New Hampshire Distributors.

Men in Motion, a fire-y all male review begins at 8pm in the Portsmouth Gas Light Company Third Floor Night Club. Tickets are $15.

The Music Hall Loft – La Dolce Vita 8pm – retro cabaret with the Gaudy Baubles. $38.25 includes dessert.
