Meet and greet!

Hi everyone!

I thought we'd start off with a meet and greet to get to know each other, discuss how we want this book club to run, and what kind of books we'd like to read.

Mitre Tavern with its little nooks and great food and drink should be a good place to start, but if you have suggestions for a better place to meet, by all means leave a note.

Hope to see you there!

I too find myself joining the ranks of the lame pikers as I have found myself double booked. Week nights are normally okay for me though.

I can't make it tonight, so sorry for the late notice as well! My book suggestions are canticle for leibowitz and alas, babylon. Looking forward to the first meeting! And weekend meetings work best for me

Thanks everyone for letting me know you can't make it. Please do come along next time (Aaron, we'll discuss the best meeting time for everyone tonight and will take your suggestion into consideration).

If you want, you can post your first book suggestion here and we'll enter it into the vote tonight.

Sorry gotta cancel. Any chance it could start at an earlier time? 6:30 perhaps?

Guys, I'm sorry to change RSVP so late but I hurt my back yesterday and have an Osteo appointment tonight!

Was going to suggest Orwell's 1984 and Huxley's Brave New World - nothing like a classic, right?? I look forward to hearing which book has been selected and the date for the first discussion.

Sorry, I can’t make the meeting. I would like to let it be known that I have written a novel that members of this group might like. It’s titled, “The Gigacull.” It’s about a TV reporter who discovers that a group of powerful people have decided that this planet’s population needs to be reduced with a massive cull - a giga-cull. It’s available online, from Smashwords. https://www.smashwords.com/books... Go there for a full description of what it’s all about.

It looks like Turf Bar might take us, but Aaron if you could find out just in case, that'd be great!

Maybe the Curve bar at the Arts Centre? I work at the NGV so can find out if it's open in the evening.

    Thanks Ang, so am I!

Unfortunately Mitre Tavern have just told me they can only seat us outside in the beer garden. They do have heaters but it might be a bit cold and noisy.

Does anyone have any suggestions for other places in the CBD?

Hey Romy, not sure if you've tried the Turf Bar on Queen? They're usually pretty good about reserving places, though it depends on numbers..
