Do you love reading about the end of the world, the destruction of mankind and dystopian societies? So do we! Join our monthly book club in Melbourne CBD to discuss grim tales of survival from post-apocalyptic, dystopian and speculative fiction!
At the risk of sounding like a misanthropes, we love reading about the end of the world as we know it. Over the years so many fantastic books have come out featuring underdogs trying to stay alive, governments oppressing their people and bands of survivors creating new societies for themselves; we think they deserve a little more attention than they’re getting now.
There's an endless list of books that fall under these categories, but just to give you an idea, we might read books such as The Stand (Stephen King), Blindness (Jose Saramago), The Hunger Games (Suzanne Collins), The Road (Cormac McCarthy), The Handmaid’s Tale (Margaret Atwood), The Passage (Justin Cronin), The Day of the Triffids (John Wyndham), I Am Legend (Richard Matheson), Tomorrow, When the War Began (John Marsden), In the Country of Last Things (Paul Auster), The Drought (J.G. Ballard), and The Children of Men (P.D. James).
Have a look at our next scheduled book club meeting, and don’t be afraid to suggest a time, place, or book for discussion.
