Glad you had a good time Terry and we look forward to seeing you at the meetings. And ya know, us PRSC guys go fishing in a "non-planned-trip" mode as well. Once yu get to know the rest of the crew you'll find opportunities for doing a float or a trip somewhere multiple exponentially. Welcome aboard.

Great!! Enjoyed the float, caught some fish and met some others. My first float, but not my last. Thanks, Jamie..

To all, here are some links to information about the location of the boat ramp in Brunswick, MD.

    http://www.dnr.maryland.gov/boating/pdfs/BoatingAccessInformationFrederick2.pdf

Also, please note that we are meeting at the public boat ramp (turn right after crossing the train tracks). We are not meeting at the camp ground (which is on the left after the train tracks).

I drive a dark blue Ford F-150 with a bed cap. On top of that will be a large dark green canoe. In other words, you can't miss me. So look for me at the boat ramp.

Hi all - I'm looking forward to the trip on Saturday. Just a reminder that we'll be meeting at the boat ramp in Brunswick, MD at 7am. It is in the heart of town, across the train tracks, and under the bridge. We'll take care of paperwork for new members, and then shuttle cars down to the takeout (after unloading boats and gear). The aim is to leave as many vehicles at the takeout as we can....makes things easier at the end of the day.

Its going to be hot...so bring lots of sunblock and lots and lots of water.

If you have any questions, post them here, or email me at [masked].

    Thanks and see you Saturday.

This part of the river is pretty smooth and you shouldn't have any problems. There are some small I guess what you would call rapids that are easy to pass through. I have never had any problems in my kayak in this stretch.

Hi guys I'm all set for the trip and will pay member dues, application on site. What is the address to the Brunswick boat launch? 7am meet there or 7 am in the water?

      July 18, 2013

    • Jamie G.

Ken, we will meet at 7am at the boat launch. We'll take care of paper work for new members and then do the shuttle for the cars.

Is this float suitable for a canoe?

How do we get back to the cars?

Yes Terry, this float is GREAT for a canoe. No pucker-factor at all. But some great fishing if it holds true to it's past reputation.

Hey Jamie...just so you know, (and so were don't scare anybody) Knoxville Falls is on the RT340 bridge to Brunswick float...the one above the one we're doing. If I wasn't so old I would have remembered before I made my comment (now deleted) about going thru the falls. This float is very tame and a good one to cut your 'river teeth' on for all our newbies. I will definitely be there by 7:00am with bells on...and pants...pants would be good.

Hi Everybody, thanks for signing up for the trip. There are a few things we need to discuss.
    1) for those who are new, you need to join PRSC to go on this trip. The reason is that our insurance company requires it, and a waiver form. The forms can be found on our website (www.prsc.org). Dues are $35, but for new members, this late in the year, memberships are half price. If you want to discuss further, please email me at [masked].
    2) This trip is suitable for canoes. And we will make sure we all get through Knoxville safely.
    3) With this warm weather, proper clothing and other items are crucial. Do not wear cotton...once wet, it stays wet. Wear nylon or other synthetic that dries quickly. Wear shoes that can get wet and will cover your feet (old sneakers are fine). Bring lots of water...and drink it. It's easy to get dehydrated. Bring sunblock. Bring a pfd/life jacket. Wear a hat.

Also, what lures/bait should I bring? I have an extra kayak (sit in, Pungo 14) if someone needs one.

Unfortunately I will not be able to make the trip, have to be out of town unexpectedly....

If there is still room I'd love to join you guys for my maiden voyage in my new sit-in yak as well as my inaugural PRSC float. Thanks, Luke

River and Trail Outfitters now has a location in Brunswick. It is by the MARC parking lot. I have seen kayaks in their lot; they may have canoes.

My guest is Larry Warren who is a member. Will share my canoe.

    4) We run our own shuttle, so we make sure everyone gets back to their car.
    5) Jeff, I have 1 spot in the front of my canoe.

Let me know if you have other questions.
