4 mile trail run on south side of Lake Hodges

Hey Everyone,

This should be about a 4-mile run along the south side of Lake Hodges.  There isn't a huge amount of elevation gain, but there a fair amount of up and down, with a small amount of rock scrambling, and a few places where there's a steep drop-off on the side of the trail.  All along the way, you have excellent views of Lake Hodges, and you get to at least see the dam, although I haven't found a way to actually get to the dam.

This is a dog-friendly area, although dogs are required to be on-leash.  However, since we'll be car-pooling from one end to the other, you'll need to arrange with someone else to make sure that they're willing to transport your dog.

What I'd like to do is meet at the end-point of the run, and leave half the cars there, then car pool in the other half of the cars to the beginning of the run.  Then we'll do the run and carpool back to the beginning of the run to pick up the cars we left there.

The end of the run, where we'll meet, is in 4-S Ranch at 17925 Alva Rd (actually, we'll meet a little past this).  Here is the google map location:

And where we'll drop the cars off for the beginning of the run is on Poblado Rd in Rancho Bernardo:

Hope to see everyone there.

    Hi Marley,

I don't think I can make Sunday mornings, because that's when I have the hikes scheduled, and I have a friend who likes to make the hikes and can only do Sunday mornings. However, I think Saturday evenings are just hard for people to make, so how about if I schedule the runs for Saturday mornings? Will next Saturday morning work for you?

Maybe. I usually do the hikes on Sunday mornings, but let me see if I can switch it around a bit. I'll get back to you.

That's too bad you guys can't make it. Actually, I'm not sure I can do the full 4 miles either, but I really like this trail, so I want to try.

However, I need at least one other person to do this (for the car-pooling), so if no one else signs up by 5:30, I'll probably go run Penasquitos Canyon instead. Let me know if anyone wants to do that.

I just realized I probably can't run 4 miles with elevation. Someday maybe.

Don't know how I got "confirmed" since I RSVP "No". I won't be around that day. D

Meetup.com shows you as not attending, so "confirmed", in this case, probably just means that you've confirmed that you won't be attending. :)

If you can do 13.1 period, you're doing way better than me. I only started running in January, and my max distance so far has been about 3 miles, so I'm just hoping I can make it the whole way.

I don't remember what our pace was last night, but I think it was less than 4 miles per hour, which would have put us at 10 miles after 2 1/2 hours, so still quite a bit slower than you. However, we did have a lot of hills and rough terrain, so it's not very comparable.

Anyway, I don't think you have anything to worry about, and even by some chance you do end up running a little slower than we do, we'd be happy to adjust our pace to accommodate you.

What is the average pace? I don't usually keep track just have always tried to do 13.1 under 2 1/2 hour. I would say I am a slow jogger...
