Same plan as the previous night, except hiking instead of trail running:
This should be about a 4-mile hike along the south side of Lake Hodges. There isn't a huge amount of elevation gain, but there a fair amount of up and down, with a small amount of rock scrambling, and a few places where there's a steep drop-off on the side of the trail. All along the way, you have excellent views of Lake Hodges, and you get to at least see the dam, although I haven't found a way to actually get to the dam.
What I'd like to do is meet at the end-point of the hike, and leave half the cars there, then car pool in the other half of the cars to the beginning of the run. Then we'll do the hike and carpool back to the beginning of the run to pick up the cars we left there.
This is a dog-friendly area, although dogs are required to be on-leash. However, since we'll be car-pooling from one end to the other, you'll need to arrange with someone else to make sure that they're willing to transport your dog.
The end of the run, where we'll meet, is in 4-S Ranch at 17925 Alva Rd (actually, we'll meet a little past this). Here is the google map location:
And where we'll drop the cars off for the beginning of the hike is on Poblado Rd in Rancho Bernardo:
Hope to see everyone there.
