Introduction

Hi! I am learning the mountain dulcimer and would love to play and learn with this group!

What is first folk song you can remember hearing?

Most songs that we sang in school...I've Been Working on the Railroad, My Bonnie, Oh Susanna, etc. What I have newly discovered in this group, however, is Old Time music. I love it! :)

Do you like to play or listen or both?

Both! I am slowly adding more tunes to my "able to play" list. I love to listen and then add it it to my "to learn" list. :) Still learning the mountain dulcimer (since June) as my main focus, but am also trying to learn banjo, autoharp and hammered dulcimer. I used to play bass many years ago....might try picking that up again. There never seems to be enough time in the day!!

  • Hi Christine! I also am essentially a newbie, although I used to play in another lifetime. Brings back a lot of good memories! Hope to see you there!

  • Hi Christine and Welcome to Ukulele Friends. We're taking a brief break over the Holidays, but will be planning another Meet-up soon after the 1st of the year. We welcome all skill levels and enjoy sharing what we've learned. We play a variety of music, ranging from traditional Hawaiian to classics to rock and roll. We're in the process of setting up a 'round robin' music selection among our members so everyone can pick a song to work on. I look forward to meeting you. Happy Strumming, Scott
