Introduction

"I don't make music because I'm happy…I'm happy because I make music." I live in Poway with two guitars, an auto harp, and a harmonica that are yearning to sing! Among my instruments, I suspect I'm the weakest link! ; )

What is first folk song you can remember hearing?

"Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad" Woody Guthrie

Do you like to play or listen or both?

Both

Additional Information

"If you're curious about the Autoharp, ask me and I'll tell you what I know. It's an easy instrument learn and, compared to other instruments, relatively inexpensive. "

What Janice Webber Sharples is saying about this Meetup Group

Fun and FREE! A supportive group for musicians of all levels. I never thought I'd play music in front of others, but the good folks at Poway Folk Circles made it easy. Listeners and those who want to sing along are always welcomed too.

  • Janice..you wrote that great song right? Thank you so much!! I am a newbie and a listener and am very impressed with that song. I didn't have time to tell you so but next month I plan to thank you in person.

  • Hi Janice,
Yes, I know there are not many who have an intrest in these old "wooden boxes with strings" but for me it is a GOD-send! I do not read music but I love music and I wanted something to help teach songs in the Sunday school classes I teach in ( and for personal worship times). When I started researching an instrument and found that the Autoharp had such a beautiful sound and could be played with just chords I was driven to find something I could play with. See you tomorrow!

  • Welcome Janice. We have neighborhoods and interests in common. (I'm in Poway). Perhaps we can carpool to some events.
