Food Walking Tour

Savour and experience the food, history and culture of the heart of Winnipeg!

highlights:
• enjoy a unique glimpse into the rich multi-cultural fabric of our city
• taste delicious specialities from five of our favourite food establishments
• learn about our history with experienced local guides

We begin with a scenic hike along the Red River out to historic Point Douglas and NEECHI's, our 1st stop and an important centre of Aboriginal culture. Next stop China Town and the Exchange District with a pause for some street food. We'll drop in on a counterculture icon - the MONDRAGON Bookstore for another exotic taste experience.

Our next stop is a complete change of pace, we'll sample hors d'oevres and sip from champagne flutes in the opulent splendor of the old restored Metropolitan Theatre.

Saving the best for last, we'll circle back to the Forks Market where we'll feast on Manitoba grown 'back to the earth' delicacies.

•hike distance - 7.5 km
4 stops with tastings at each (enough food for lunch!)
•tour length - 3 hours
tour limited to 20 people, advance tickets required, $42.50 per person

It was great. I have no criticisms but a few suggestions. Having staff people speak to us about their business is interesting and I really enjoy the learning aspect of our walks. Perhaps we could have someone from Neechi Foods and Mondragon give us a brief history of their foray into the food industry. How and why they came to be. Both The Met and Tall Grass did this and it was really enlightening. A shorter wait for the food at Neechi would have been ideal. The day was wonderful, the company outstanding and the food very tasty indeed. Many thanks.

Excellent...The guides were great, the time in between walking and having some food was well spaced, the number of walkers was just right.

Mt colleague and I said that 'we felt like we were on vacation'.

All in all a lovely time.

Thank you everyone who participated in helping organize this event
