Hackathon: Develop/MapReduce Your Dream Predictive Analytics/BigData App.

Our goal is to implement a few apps, using publicly available APIs. You can propose apps, code them, or just be an observer. PHP, Java, Python, Ruby, C++, FORTRAN, or COBOL (just kidding!) are all welcome!

If you want to code, please go through the APIs below.

Step 1: Get to know each other

Step 2: Get to know proposed applications

Step 3: Divide into groups of 3-4 to finish the apps

Step 4: Discussion about how to finish the rest

If anyone's looking to add talent to their startup team check out DapperJobs ( You can post a job for free using "web2" as a code.

We know that for small teams, finding someone you actually want to work with is important. Unlike normal job boards, we're focused on the culture/personality side of things.

If you have any questions or feedback, I'd love to hear how we can improve our product!

Is a common data set going to be used by all groups? Can you send out a link?

Michael, this is always an issue. We discussed/used Kaggle and some Govt. data sources. Let me know what kind of app. you will be interested in.
