Going to Italy via California

Hope everyone has enjoyed their summer ! We didn't schedule a meet-up in August as everyone was busy with vacations and getting ready for school; however we
have a special event planned for September 25th. It has come to our attention that many of you have a conflict on the 25th. I know there are a number of things going on around town. With that in mind - we have decided to postpone our going to Italy tasting to October 23rd so that way more of you will be able to attend. We will be tasting some great Italian wines and comparing those to wines produced in the Italian style from California. Additionally we will be featuring some Italian foods to pair with these wines. Also for those of you that attended the Silver Oak tasting in July and really enjoyed the Caldwell wines - we will have the Caldwell Gold as well. Even though it is not an
Italian style wine - it will be a special treat. We really look forward to seeing you again. Premier Wines

Due to the nasty weather we had a small turn-out but everyone was super nice, the wines were great and I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

I was confused about the purpose of this meetup group. I generally stay away from meetups where the purpose is to make money. Having just moved to the Dallas area, my husband and I are looking to meet new friends. These wines were outrageously expensive. We bought two of the low end bottles for special occasions. I think that the organizers should be up front about their purpose and maybe you were and I just didn't see it. Again, we like to meet new people and spend some time getting to know them over a glass of wine. Everyone there was very nice but it felt very much like a business with the sole purpose is to sell wine. It cost $15 a person to try the wines and, again, they were very expensive. We will probably drop out.
