Info Builder: Food Preservation

I have gotten a couple of requests for food preservation so I scheduled Kate McCarty, who is a is the Food Preservation Community Education Assistant at UMaine Extension to give us a presentation.


She has served in the AmeriCorps VISTA program and has completed the Master Food Preserver program, an intensive, hands-on training in all aspects of home food preservation.


She will cover food preservation, hot water bath canning, pressure canning, and freezing, and drying (depending on time and interest).

    Great meetup -- thanks! On the way out, I stopped in at the Walmart next door to see if they had a pressure 'canner/cooker'...they did not, but they did have lots of canning supplies.

      Good to see you too, Stuart. I have to make it to more meet-ups...it has been so busy. I would really like to learn how to can meat so I am considering that master canning class.

      The master canning class looks awesome. Unforunately right now I can't fit it in with my schedule. Maybe next year.
